This blog will be place for me to give updates on the progress of th project. It also is also serving as a director's journal for the documentary I am making about transgender activism since Stonewall. The documentary will be based primarily on the interviews I conduct as part of the larger project.
I'm a little unsure about having a blog for this project because I have so many blogs to keep up with. However, I am dedicated to keeping up dialogs with any community members who want to have a part of this project. I am also interested in logging my evolving consciousness around trans issues and the trans community as I continue with the project.

The Project
The Transgender Oral History Project emerged out of my personal search for community as a questioning young activist. I moved to Northampton, MA and immediately got involved with organizing New England Transgender Pride. The more I came to see our efforts as one to create and fortify community, the more I began to question the notion of a unified LGBT community. I was curious about the efforts trans people before us, but the answers I found in written queer histories were obscure and insubstantial. I decided to do an oral history project in order to capture the stories and voices of aging members of the trans community before it was too late.
